   Positive,   Effective,   Fun   Training

Kennel Club Listed

This small, friendly dog training group prides itself on the excellent quality of the help and
        advice we offer.
We use only kind, positive training methods where dogs are well rewarded for good
behaviour, believing that patience and working at the dogs' pace gets the best results.  All
dogs, including those with issues, respond so well to these methods of training.

We aim to help owners achieve their goal of having a well-behaved companion for life.

You can start classes at any time - there is no need to wait for a new course to begin.
This is especially important for very young puppies who need to start their socialisation and training as
soon as possible.   Socialisation with other dogs and people is so easy when they are very young.  They
quickly learn to play confidently with other pups and to go back to their handlers when called.  Honestly!!!
The need to begin a training programme immediately also applies to rescued / rehomed dogs.

*   Accompanied children are welcome - we encourage young people to learn how to train their dogs so that
they can become the responsible owners of the future.

!!!   FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE A PUPPY THAT CAN'T GO OUT YET   !!!
OR ARE PLANNING FOR A PUPPY'S ARRIVAL

You are welcome to come along to find out how to teach your puppy those early skills.  There are so many
things a puppy needs to learn just in the home before he, or she, is able to come to a puppy class.
It is much easier to start off properly so you don't have to rectify mistakes later - which can be difficult!

   *  NEWS : -

Aldyth and Gill held our first Monday Evening classes on 7th September, 2009.

Update - October 11th  -  This is proving to be very popular and is expanding week by week.  We have been very lucky and have some lovely dogs with their people.

Finn has won a place in the semi-finals of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Special Pre-Beginner Obedience Stakes to be held in Edinburgh in November.  We are hoping he will gain a place in the finals at Crufts in March.

September 10th  -  Wisp and Aldyth took part in a Heelwork to Music Freestyle Competition
and took eighth place.  So far they have competed three times and have been placed 2nd once and 8th twice out of classes of around 14.  Quite a learning curve as they haven't done this before.   Also throughout the summer they have done dancing displays at local fun days - another new experience for them!

A new venture......

Aldyth and Judy are now running a class for young puppies at Oakmount Veterinary Centre in Burnley on Thursday evenings.

Diesel, (below) Oscar, Tam and Molly now have their Puppy Awards.  More photos soon.......

November 1st  -  Gill and her husband Steve, with both their dogs, travelled all the way to Edinburgh.  Although they missed qualifying for the final of the Pre-beginner Stakes - by a 'hair's breadth' - Gill and Finn put in a stunning performance and really enjoyed the experience.  Very well done!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010

January 16th  -  Like many other people we have really been inconvenienced by the huge amount of snow we have had.  We opened up on the Mondays and were pleased to see the keen locals who walked and the lucky people who have a four-wheel drive, but cancelled the Thursdays as the hill was so icy and everyone comes in cars to that session.
We are now back to normal and hopefully we will have no more problems.

Jeff and Bess (Mondays) and Sam (Thursday Evenings) have been awarded their Puppy Foundation Awards.  Well done you happy handlers!!!

January 18th  -  at Crawshawbooth  -  We have had so many new puppies join us on Monday evenings that we have decided to fit in an extra class rather than have one really large class.
This means the first class now begins at 6.00p.m.  The Thursday evening class at Oakmount is also proving to be very popular and is almost full.

May  8th  -  Already!!!!!!!!  Aldyth and Wisp gained 4th place at their first Heelwork to Music competition this year, held in Leicestershire.

May 21st  -  After struggling through all the cold and icy weather it is so nice to be able to enjoy some sunshine and warmth.  We haven't needed the heating on this week which is very pleasant indeed.

We have been pleased to award a number of puppies their Puppy Foundation Certificates and Rosettes at both the Crawshawbooth and Burnley classes since January.  Most puppies have soon learned to be sociable with each other and to go to their handlers when called.  Most of the handlers have worked very hard with their puppies to achieve such high standards.  Well done to them all!!

We are now going to fix a date for the Bronze and Silver Levels tests for the more advanced dogs - many of these have been coming along weekly since they were young puppies and are now ready to be assessed.
